Hull
A city very close to my heart I have visited regularly for almost twenty years and continue to do so.
A wonderful city of warm people and a warm welcome that also boasts a rich industrial heritage.
Despite declining fortunes over recent decades, as with many other industrial UK towns and cities, there is a stubborn refusal to let this define the city as its entwined cultural and industrial identities forge new paths for the century ahead.
As it looks to the future by building on the success of being the City Of Culture 2017 and welcoming new industries such as the Siemens Gamesa wind turbine blade factory at Alexandra Dock, there are still many fascinating sites and structures that provide an insight to it's mighty industrial past. The resilience of the city and its people will, I'm sure, ensure a different but mighty industrial future ahead.
